Orris is a curated collection of seasonal bulbs, assembled with intention and handled with care. Because bulbs are living material and shipments are timed to planting windows, our policies are necessarily specific.
Please review the information below before placing your order.
Seasonal Shipping & Freight
Orris ships bulbs in defined seasonal windows aligned with their natural planting cycles. Orders are not fulfilled strictly by purchase date, but by crop readiness and appropriate planting timing.
Spring-Flowering Bulbs
Bulbs that flower in spring are planted in fall and ship late summer through fall. Orders placed outside this window are considered pre-orders and will be held and shipped when fall planting season begins.
Summer-Flowering Bulbs
Bulbs and tubers that flower in summer are planted in spring to early summer and ship late winter through spring, once risk of cold damage has passed and crops are ready. Orders placed outside this window are considered pre-orders and will be held and shipped when spring planting season begins.
Shipping windows may vary slightly based on availability, weather, and harvest conditions. Once your order ships, you will receive a confirmation email with tracking information.
We are unable to guarantee delivery on specific dates or accommodate early-shipment requests once a seasonal shipping window has opened.
Spring Shipping Windows
Planting Zone & Estimated Shipping Window
Zones 8–11: Mid March
Zones 6–7: Late March to early April
Zone 5: Mid to late April
Zones 3–4: Late April to early May
Spring preorder shipments begin mid-March.
After all preorders have been processed, in-stock orders ship within 7–10 business days.
Please note that we cannot guarantee spring bulb shipments before March 17.
Fall Shipping Windows
Planting Zone & Estimated Shipping Window
Bearded Iris: Mid to late August
Fall-planted bulbs: Mid to late September
Peonies, lilies, daylilies, and root perennials: Early to mid October
Amaryllis (indoor growing): Early to mid November
Fall preorder fulfillment typically begins mid-September.
Preorders ship in the order they were placed, with colder climates prioritized first. Once preorders are completed, in-stock orders ship within 7–10 business days.
Orders that include both bulbs and later-harvest roots will ship together once the full order is ready.
Fall bulbs generally cannot be guaranteed to ship before September 18, with the exception of bearded iris.
Weather Advisory
Bulbs are resilient, but extreme weather can impact shipping conditions.
If temperatures drop to levels that may cause damage during transit, Orris may temporarily delay shipment until conditions are safe
Our priority is ensuring bulbs arrive healthy and ready to plant. Weather-related adjustments may slightly extend shipping timelines.
Freight & Shipping Costs
Shipping and handling fees are calculated at checkout based on order size, weight, and destination. Because bulbs are seasonal, perishable goods, freight charges are non-refundable once an order has shipped.
Orders ship complete unless otherwise noted. In cases where an order contains items with different seasonal ship times, the order will ship together when all items are ready.
Quality & Care
Orris sources bulbs for strength and consistency and packed to protect their natural dormancy. While living material is inherently variable, we stand behind the quality of what we ship and will address issues of damage or error with clarity and care, within the parameters outlined below.
Order Acceptance & Cancellations
Orders are accepted once payment is processed and inventory is allocated.
Requests to cancel or modify an order must be made before shipment. Once an order has shipped, it is no longer eligible for cancellation.
Returns
Due to the seasonal and perishable nature of bulbs, returns are accepted only with prior authorization and must meet the conditions below:
● Return requests must be submitted within 7 days of delivery
● Items must be unused, unopened, and in original packaging
● A 20% restocking fee applies to authorized returns not due to Orris error
● Original shipping costs are non-refundable
● Customers are responsible for return shipping
To request a return authorization, contact
orders@orrisbulbs.com with your order number and reason for return.
Unauthorized returns will not be accepted.
Damaged or Incorrect Orders
If your order arrives damaged or incorrect, please notify us within 5 days of delivery.
Please include:
● Your order number
● A brief description of the issue
● Clear photographs of the bulbs and packaging
Once reviewed, Orris will offer a replacement, refund, or store credit, depending on availability and circumstance. Claims submitted outside this window may not be eligible.
Plant Performance
Bulb performance depends on site conditions, planting time, weather, and care beyond our control. For this reason, we cannot guarantee results once bulbs have been planted and do not accept returns based on growth outcomes.
Refunds
Approved refunds are issued to the original form of payment once returned items are received and inspected. Please allow 7–10 business days for processing.
